Home In The Country is a pop country song by Mikaela Davis & Southern Star that was recorded with the microphone company Telefunken. I was able to download the raw multitracks from the recording and completely mix and master it myself. I mixed and mastered the song in Logic Pro and started by editing the song, taking out any breaths that weren't needed, time aligning things, making sure everything was in phase, and taking out anything else that was not needed. Then I set levels and did panning helping create a solid foundation for the stereo image. Then I moved into using tools such as EQ, compression, reverb, delay, de-essing, and others. Once I finished the mix, I exported it and then brought the mix into a new mastering session. From there I did EQ to help cut out some muddiness in the mid-range, did some slight compression and shaped the tone I wanted, and then used a limiter to get a good competitive level.
